Manchester United confirm the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves

Manchester United have officially completed the signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The club initially announced on June 1 that a deal had been reached, pending visa and registration approval.

According to ESPN, United activated the £62.5 million ($83.5 million) release clause in Cunha’s contract with Wolves. Sources indicated that United had initially hoped to stagger the payments over four to five years but ultimately agreed to a two-year payment plan.

Cunha has signed a contract that runs until June 2030, with an option to extend for an additional year.

In a statement released Thursday, Cunha expressed his excitement:
"It's hard to describe how it feels to become a Manchester United player. Growing up in Brazil, I watched Premier League matches at my grandmother's house, and United was always my favourite English club. It’s a dream come true to wear the red shirt. I’m grateful to my family and everyone who helped me get here."

"I’m looking forward to preseason, meeting my teammates, and getting ready for the season. My focus is on working hard, contributing to the team, and helping return this club to the top."

Last season, the 25-year-old scored 17 goals and provided six assists for Wolves across all competitions.

Previously with Atlético Madrid and RB Leipzig, Cunha has earned 15 caps for Brazil and scored his first international goal in a match against Argentina in March.
