Man fined over 173,000 TL for forcing rooster to consume alcohol and cigarettes in viral video
Lefkoşa, north Cyprus – A man who was seen forcing a rooster to consume alcohol and cigarettes in a video that sparked widespread outrage on social media has been fined 173,876 Turkish Lira for violating animal welfare laws.
The disturbing footage, reportedly recorded in Balıkesir, quickly circulated online and prompted an official investigation by the Demirhan Police Station under the Lefkoşa Police Directorate.
Following the investigation, authorities successfully identified the individual featured in the video. The Veterinary Department subsequently imposed an administrative fine of 173,876 TL, citing violations of the Animal Welfare Law.
The incident has ignited public condemnation, with many calling for stricter enforcement of animal protection laws. Officials have reiterated their commitment to combating all forms of animal abuse and emphasized that such acts will not go unpunished.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible and humane treatment of animals, both in public and private settings.
