Man detained for sexually harassing his friend's 13-year-old daughter

A man accused of sexually harassing his friend's 13-year-old daughter was arrested and detained for two days pending investigation.

The suspect identified only as AO was brought to court on Wednesday June 18 on charges of child sexual abuse, sexual assault and sexual harassment.  

In court testimony against the suspect, the police stated that the incident took place at Ercan roundabout in Demirhan, on March 12, 2025.

Police said the suspect who was in the same vehicle with the minor who was born in 2012 sexually assaulted her by making inappropriate gestures in the vehicle.

Police said the suspect continued the sexual assault of the child in the car when they entered the Balıkesir main road, then took off his pants and sexually harassed her verbally by grabbing his genitals.

The police stated that the incident was reported on June 17, 2025, and the suspect was arrested for investigation purposes on the same day.

The police reported that the suspect did not accept the accusations in his verbal statement, stating that he always went out with the girl and her mother.

The police requested an additional 2 days to investigate the allegations regarding the suspect, stating that the City Security Camera, the perimeter security cameras, and also the mobile phone will be examined.
