Magnitude 4.1 earthquake strikes south of Cyprus

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded early this morning in the sea south of Cyprus, the Seismology Service of the Meteorology Department announced.

According to the statement, the tremor occurred at 05:49 a.m., with its epicenter located approximately 196 kilometers from the Akıncılar Seismic Station, at a depth of about 5 kilometers.

Initial assessments determined the coordinates of the earthquake’s epicenter to be 33.28° North and 33.01° East, confirming that the quake originated offshore in the southern seas of Cyprus. The earthquake was classified as mild in intensity.

No damage or injuries have been reported at this time.
