Illegal taxi driver caught red-handed in Gönyeli

A person illegally operating a taxi service was caught red-handed Gönyeli while illegally transporting passengers for payment.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, teams from the Gönyeli Police Station, under the Lefkoşa Police Directorate, caught the suspect in the act on Belediye Boulevard on Monday June 30. 

Authorities confirmed that the driver was providing transportation services without the required license, constituting illegal taxi operations.

As a result, the driver was issued a fine totaling 86,938 TL and received 50 penalty points on their driving record.

The police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal taxi activities and have urged the public to use only licensed and authorized transportation services.
