Five injured in major traffic accident involving 6 vehicles on Girne-Alsancak bypass

Girne – Five people were injured in a major traffic accident near the Eziç Traffic Lights Junction on the Girne-Alsancak Bypass on Friday afternoon. 

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the accident involved a truck and six passenger vehicles.

Emergency teams transferred the injured to Girne Dr. Akçiçek Hospital, Girne Dr. Suat Günsel Hospital, and Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Following the accident, construction materials spilled from the truck onto the roadway, and cleanup efforts to clear the debris are still ongoing.

Police reported that the accident occurred at around 16:10 today near the Eziç Traffic Lights Junction, causing significant disruption to traffic in the area. As a result, the section between the Girne American University (GAU) roundabout and the Eziç junction on the Alsancak-bound lane has been closed to traffic.

The Police Press Office advised drivers traveling from Alsancak towards Girne to use alternative routes through the city via the GAU roundabout. Authorities also urged all drivers to proceed slowly and with caution in the area to prevent further incidents.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
