Elderly tourist jailed in Cyprus for sexually abusing six-year-old girl

A 76-year-old man who visited Cyprus for a holiday in April has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexually abusing a six-year-old girl.

The court imposed several concurrent sentences on the man, the longest being six years.

The offender, who is the partner of the child’s grandmother, pleaded guilty last month to a total of 10 charges.

According to earlier reports, the abuse began in 2023. The man regularly travelled to Cyprus for holidays, staying at the same residence as the victim.

The case came to light after the child recounted the incidents to her mother and her mother’s partner, who then reported the matter to the police.

The man was subsequently arrested in Greece and extradited to Cyprus to stand trial.
