Zimbabwean student fall to his death in Gemikonağı north Cyprus

Gemikonağı, North Cyprus – A 23-year-old man, identified as Courage Chirigo, tragically lost his life in the early hours of Thursday May 15, 2025, after falling from his apartment building.

Courage is said to have fall from a height of approximately 10.7 meters while attempting to enter his apartment through the balcony.

According to a statement issued by the Police Press Office, the incident occurred around 2:00 AM when Courage who was unable to locate the keys to his apartment, reportedly climbed onto the balcony of an adjacent apartment in an effort to access his own unit. 

While trying to cross over to his own balcony, he lost his balance and fell to the ground.

Emergency services rushed the severely injured man first to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia, and later transferred him to Near East University Hospital. Despite intensive medical efforts, Courage Chirigo succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities confirmed that the exact cause of death will be determined following a scheduled autopsy. The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
