Shocking incident in Turkish community: Drunk man bites puppy, refuses medical treatment

Zonguldak, Turkey — A bizarre and disturbing incident in the Çaycuma district of Zonguldak has left residents stunned after a heavily intoxicated man reportedly bit a stray puppy and caused a public disturbance.

The incident took place in the Nebioğlu township, where 34-year-old Ömer V., under the influence of excessive alcohol, first attacked and bit a young puppy on the street before turning his aggression toward bystanders. Witnesses quickly alerted emergency services upon seeing the man's erratic behavior.

When 112 Emergency Health crews arrived at the scene, they found it difficult to approach Ömer V. due to his aggressive state. Gendarmerie units were dispatched to assist and managed to subdue the individual. Despite being transported to an ambulance, Ömer V. reportedly refused medical treatment, resisting efforts to calm and treat him.

The puppy, who was visibly frightened but physically unharmed, was taken under the care of nearby citizens and emergency responders. Authorities confirmed that the animal is in good condition, though it appeared shaken from the ordeal.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for stricter measures against animal cruelty and more robust public health interventions for individuals struggling with substance abuse. Local officials have yet to release further information on whether legal action will be taken against the perpetrator.
