Motorcyclist fined for not wearing protective headgear
Girne, Cyprus – A motorcyclist who's image was shared on social media riding without a protective helmet in Girne has been identified by police and issued a fine of 6,520.35 Turkish Lira along with a 30-point penalty on their driving record.
According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the incident occurred on Karaoğlanoğlu Street in the Alsancak area. The shared footage showing the individual operating the motorcycle without a helmet was treated as a formal complaint by law enforcement.
Following an investigation, officers from the Lapta Police Station, operating under the Girne Police Directorate, located the individual and initiated legal proceedings.
The authorities emphasized the importance of road safety and warned that similar violations captured online will be treated seriously. They also reiterated that failing to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle is a punishable offense under traffic regulations.
