35-year-old man die in traffic accident in north Cyprus

A 35-year-old died in a tragic accident that occurred on Şht. Mehmet Emin Street in Minareliköy on Wednesday evening.

The deceased, 35-year-old Ali Minnoş, was a passenger on a motorcycle that was involved in the accident that occurred at around 9:15 PM on Şht. Mehmet Emin Street in Minareliköy, on Wednesday April 23.

According to information from the Police Press Office, Fırat Atamtürk (male, 37), who was driving a motorcycle, was heading north when he lost control of the motorcycle upon entering a left-hand curve. The motorcycle veered off the right side of the road and crashed into the garden wall of a residence.

As a result of the accident, Ali Minnoş (male, 35), who was a passenger on the motorcycle, died at the scene. The motorcycle driver, Fırat Atamtürk, was injured and was taken to the Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for treatment.

He was brought to court on Thursday in a wheelchair on charges of causing a Traffic Accident Resulting in Death and drunk driving.  

He was remanded in custody for one day for more investigation to be carried out and  his driving licence temporarily confiscated.
