Man arrested at Ercan Airport after trying to leave the country with a stolen laptop

An individual who was trying to exit north Cyprus from Ercan airport was arrested by the police after it was discovered that he was trying to leave with a stolen item.

The suspect MN, a Turkish National was arrested on March 20 while attempting to leave Ercan Airport.

He was brought to court charged wit theft.

The police said the suspect stole a laptop belonging to his friend, TB, from a lodging in Alayköy and was arrested on March 20 while attempting to leave Ercan Airport.

The police reported that a search of the suspect's suitcase led to the discovery of the stolen laptop, which was taken as evidence. 

Additionally, they stated that the suspect is a Turkish national and was in the country as a tourist.

The police requested that he be held in custody for no more than 15 days.
