13 New cases of Coronavirus confirmed in south Cyprus

13 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in southern Cyprus on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 46.

The Cyprus Health Ministry made the announcement on Monday evening.

The new cases involved 10 health professionals working at the Paphos general hospital and a patient who had come in contact with a patient being treated there. 

The patient, a British citizen aged 65 is understood to have contracted the virus after being visited by family from the UK.

The other cases are two persons who recently arrived in the country. One of them from the UK and the other from Greece.  

The Health Ministry has started tracing the contacts of the 13 new cases.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in south Cyprus to 46.

Until now, only 6 case has been confirmed in North Cyprus bringing the total number of cases island wide to 52.
