Two Syrian nationals detained for living in North Cyprus without a resident permit
Two Syrian nationals were at the weekend arrested and detained for living in North Cyprus without a resident permit.
The two accused identified only as M.A.M and M.Z, were arrested in a check carried out by Turkish Cypriot police in Girne on Tuesday February, 18 after they were found living in the country without a legal document.
They were taken to a court in Girne on Friday last week on charges of illegal residency.
The two men had been living in the country without a resident permit since 2015.
One of the accused did not have any identity documents, the police said in a statement.
The court Judge ordered the suspects to remain in detention for another 7 days pending investigaion.
