A Turkish Cypriot driver has been fined for parking his car in a disabled space outside the Lefkoşa State
Hospital.
According to report, the man identified as Ertuğrul Eltutan was booked last Friday for the parking despite having a “blue badge” sticker on the
windscreen entitling him to park there.
He had taken his two disabled brothers to hospital and was shocked to get back to his car and find the penalty
notice tucked under his windscreen wiper – right next to the special
badge.
The angry man lashed at the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality (LTB)
traffic wardens for issuing the fine, saying they should “pay attention
instead to irresponsible drivers who insist on parking their cars on
verges, pavements or in spaces reserved for the disabled” when they are
not entitled.
