A 69-year-old Turkish Cypriot man has died in north Cyprus from complications caused by
the West Nile Virus.
According to report by Turkish Cypriot media on Thursday, the man identified as Kasım Aktaş, who was first diagnosed with the West Nile Virus in TRNC and was hospitalized at the Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa for about a month, died on Wednesday evening.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Health, Aktaş has been diagnosed with West Nile Virus since July 18 at the Lefkosa state hospital.
This
was the second fatality linked to the virus in the country. Two more
people with the virus are being treated in hospital while tests have
been carried out on four others to determine whether they have
contracted it.
The Ministry of Health maintains intense flight and larval control throughout the country.
