Orlando Pride defender Carson Pickett was born without a left
forearm and hand, a disability that hasn’t stopped her from forging a
respected career in football.
The 25-year-old has not only established herself as one of the best full-backs in the National Women’s Soccer League, but the Florida State graduate has inspired a generation through her success.
Pickett has been able to inspire one kid in particular recently, a two-year-old kid called Joseph Tidd.
The pair met back in April following Orlando Pride’s league game against Portland Thorns, where the normally shy youngster couldn’t stop smiling.
The 25-year-old pointed to her arm and said:
It was a really powerful moment.
Months later, Tidd and Carson were reunited again when she spotted
the youngster in the stands after Sunday afternoon’s win against Sky
Blue FC.
It was a moment that soon went viral.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a contender for picture of the year.

I have the ability to impact a lot of people, Pickett told The Guardian last year. My parents tell me all the time to use the platform God gave me. I can use my arm for something greater than myself. I’m able to impact so many kids and people who may not see a way out.
It doesn’t have to impact them through soccer. To see that I am succeeding in life and happy in life can go a long way for some people.

He kind of sees those who look like him and I think he relates to them, Joseph’s father Miles said.
