In a statement on Friday, the Ministry said;
Mosquitoes need appropriate water resources for breeding and reproduction. These water sources may be natural areas such as reeds, swamps, lakes, or ponds in the bottom of a flowerpot in our garden, in an unused car tire and in a plastic bucket.
It further advised the public to do the following;
1- Eliminate the water resources accumulated around our houses and gardens waiting more than a week.
2- Cover water tanks or barrels and empty the water remaining in buckets frequently.
3- Empty every stagnant water in equipment such as hand carts.
4- Keep gutters clean.
5- Empty the water at the bottom of the pots.

Health authorities in north Cyprus reported three incidents of West Nile virus on Thursday, July, 25.
The West Nile virus is primarily transmitted by mosquitoes who have bitten infected migratory birds. It cannot be transmitted from one person to another, hence it is of importance that people protect themselves from being bitten by the insects.
As most mosquitoes are active from dusk to dawn, wearing suitable clothing with long sleeves and trousers during this time is one protective measure.
