Akinci will meet on Friday, August 9, in a bid to see how if's possible to kick start stalled reunification talks..
The announcement was made known by the Cyprus government spokesman Prodromos
Prodromou on Monday.
According to his message on Twitter, arrangements are being made with the office of the UN special representative in Cyprus, Elizabeth Spehar.
Prodromou spoke of an “open, informal
discussion so as to open the road to the resumption of the talks the
soonest possible.”
Prodromou said that the talks must restart from the point they
stopped in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, based on the framework of the UN
Secretary-General, the so-called Guterres framework, with its six
parametres, the relevant decisions and resolutions and EU’s principles
and values.
He added that the final agreement must take into account the
issue of security.
