The face of late Turkish Cypriot leader, Dr
Fazıl Küçük who fought for the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people will be printed on a special souvenir Euro note
to pay tribute to him.
The limited-edition Zero Euro note will be printed through a special permit issued by the European Central Bank.
Around 10,000 notes are expected to be printed.
According to a press release from the Dr Fazıl Küçük Foundation, the
money printed to pay tribute to the late leader will be sold in the
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for collectors.
Numismat Özgür Honça who had been authorised three years ago in
Turkey for the printing of the money met with Mehmet Küçük from the Dr
Fazıl Küçük Foundation, the statement read.
The statement said that the note was being printed to pay tribute to
Dr Fazıl Küçük for his great sacrifices and leadership of the Turkish
Cypriot people.
Other historical figures which have had their pictures printed in
tribute include Gandhi, Karl Marx, Che Guevara, Fatih Sultan Mehmet and
Atatürk.
