15 Syrian refugees found at the Gazimağusa port
15 Syrian refugees including 2 women and 13 men were detained by Turkish Cypriot police after they were found in a truck at the Gazimağusa port on Wednesday night.
The 15 refugees were found at the harbor in Gazimağusa at about 7:30pm on Wednesday and detained by the police for trying
to enter the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus illegally
The migrants were hiding in a semi-trailer loaded with bricks.They had arrived on the island on board a freight ship named “Via Famagusta”.
Police detained the 15 refugees, the semi-trailer’s two drivers as well as two other individuals, who attempted to smuggle the refugees through customs.
