Filipino woman jailed for selling baby in Cyprus
A 47-year-old Filipino woman was detained on Friday for
eight days for allegedly selling an infant in 2017 to a couple in
Cyprus.
According to the police, the woman was arrested in Nicosia after a tip off that she had brought an infant that wasn’t hers to Cyprus in 2017 on behalf of two men.
The woman was able to bring the baby into the country claiming it was her own child.
Following her arrest, she reportedly admitted that it was not her baby.
The two men, reportedly a couple, appear to have adopted the baby.
Police are searching for the whereabouts of the two men.
