The Cyprus met office has issued a yellow alert for Monday, warning of thunderstorms and heavy rain.
Police meanwhile are warning that there is thick fog in various parts
of Cyprus and are urging drivers to be particularly careful because
visibility is extremely limited. Drivers must drive slowly, keep a safe
distance from other vehicles and keep their lights on.
The yellow alert is in force from 5 am to 5 pm on Monday.
The met
office said that heavy thunderstorms are likely with the rain intensity
locally exceeding 35 millimeters per hour.
In its forecast for the next few days, the met office said that low
pressure is affecting the area and Monday will be mainly cloudy with
rain and isolated thunderstorms. Improvement is expected late in the
afternoon.
Temperatures will be 18 C inland and on the coasts and around 9 C in the mountains.
Tonight will see periods of mainly fine weather but also intervals of
cloud that will lead to isolated showers. Temperatures will fall to 7 C
inland, 10 C on the coasts and 3 C in the mountains, where frost is
expected.
