Charge for plastic shopping bag came into force on Saturday

Shoppers in the TRNC were made to pay for plastic shopping bags in supermarkets around the country on Saturday, December, 1 as the new law comes into effect. 

Traders are expected to charge shoppers for plastic bags from Saturday December, 1 for 25 kuruş per bag.

The Department of Environmental Protection will initiate spot checks to ensure compliance with the new ruling.
