Nicosia City amongst the 50 most expensive cities to live in

Funny enough Nicosia, the capital city of south Cyprus is amongst the most expensive cities in the world to live in according to news website News Week.

Despite a-lot of developments and investments going on in the Limassol district its not Limassol but Nicosia who according to News Week is painful on citizens pockets.


According to the list Nicosia is placed in number 42 in the world with Price Level Index: $62.10 (€53.12) Earnings Level Index: $50.30 (€43.02) but its Zurich who tops the list with Geneva in second and New York in third, Athens placed just 4 places above Nicosia in number 38.

There are thousands of cities across the globe, each with its own means of attracting—or driving away—new residents. But culture, environment and the job market aside, the factor that sways most people is a good cost of living. There’s little point moving to a great city if you spend most of your life shuttling between a tiny apartment and an exhausting job.

Swiss investment bank UBS has crunched the numbers to find out which global city is the costliest to live in. The company collected data from 77 cities worldwide, including prices for household goods, rent, living costs and income.
