Fire outbreak in Famagusta dormitory, one injured

It's winter but surprisingly, there are too many news of houses getting burnt in recent days. There was panic in Famagusta in the early hours of Tuesday morning when fire reportedly broke out in a students dormitory injuring one.

According sources, the fire broke out in Novel Student Dormitory in Karakol District at about 1:00am on Tuesday.

The Famagusta Fire Department quickly intervened and the fire was extinguished without affecting other rooms in the building. 

According to report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Kibris, a 22-year-old woman identified as Guriya Icelel was affected by the fire and was rushed to the  Gazimağusa State Hospital in an ambulance. The victim was discharged shortly after.  

Household items including bed, television, air conditioner and the others were destroyed by the fire. 

At the time of this report, the cause of the fire have not been ascertained but it is believed that it started from a burning cigarette.
