Cause of baby Judy's death revealed

The cause behind the death of 11-month-old baby Judy who was abandoned by his Nigerian parents in a Lefkosa hospital last year because he was disabled has been revealed.

The sad news of Judy's death in the early hours of Tuesday morning shocked the Cyprus community.

According to a police report on Wednesday, an autopsy carried out on him at the Famagusta State Hospital revealed that he died due to aspiration of stomach contents and respiratory failure.

Judy who was 11-month-old at the time of his death had congenital anomalies and stomach cancer, adds the report.

Judy, was abandoned by his Nigerian parents at the Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa in September last year because he was disabled. 

He was later adopted by a foster family in December 2017. 

Judy was said to have died on the way to the hospital on Monday night following a disturbance. 

The police are still investigating the case.
