Akıncı blast police for not acting as "required"

President of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, Mustafa Akinci has blasted the police force for not acting properly during a violent attack on Turkish Cypriot daily on Monday.

Akinci made the remarks during a visit by members of the TRNC Trade Union on Wednesday where he noted the various actions in front of Afrika newspaper and in the parliament building. 

He condemned the attack on the new paper and said such can not be accepted because their opinion are not liked.

According to him, the authorities responsible for the security of the country are obliged to safeguard the security of every citizen regardless of their opinion. He went on to say that the police unfortunately did not act properly adding that the TRNC is a state of law and not a brutal state.

The union Secretary General Şenel Elcil said they would arrange a rally on Friday to ensure social peace and prevent unfamiliar situations in the country.
 
Akıncı who noted that such incidents does not fit the country emphasized that the tolerance in society should be maintained.
