Cyprus Talks: Endless negotiation process is over - Akinci
North Cyprus President,
Mustafa Akıncı has reiterated that while the Cyprus negotiations is being
assessed, the Turkish Cypriot will once again be trapped in the
intermediate region and not turn around the same topic, adding that an endless negotiation process is over.
President Akıncı who delivered a lecture at the Near East University İrfan Günsel Conference Center on "The Last Stage in the Cyprus Problem After Two Years Past", said the final open Cyprus negotiating period is over".
According to Akıncı, the Cyprus negotiations will likely to climb to the top of the day after the elections in Southern Cyprus.
Akıncı stated that whether or not the change of mindset will be seen after the elections, but that the discourses in Southern Cyprus did not give hope before the election.
He pointed out that the former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon's past negotiations process saw an "unprecedented progress" and according to current Secretary General Antonio Guterres in that regard, "a historic opportunity is lost" but Akıncı said that the Turkish Cypriot side made serious contributions towards the process.
Recalling that UN Secretary General Guterres said that he would act according to the wishes of the future Cypriot, Akıncı said, "With a package concept, a new modality is needed in a framework that is not clear. A non-maximalist approach, one that looks for what is possible, must be demonstrated, "he said.

What we will not do is very clear and clear: we will not turn around for a matter of years in a confined manner to the intermediate zone ... The open, the endless negotiation process is over. I can not be such a thing anymore, I am not ready to be part of such a process of my own name, "he said.
The Secretary General Guterres said he will act accordingly. We gave him the necessary message. I need a new approach within the framework of a calendar with an understanding package, he said.
