Paper Round: Man Utd close in on Perisic, Morata still top Chelsea target
Man Utd closing in on Perisic
We start with The Telegraph who are one of a number of
outlets reporting that Manchester United are closing in on the signing
of Ivan Perisic. The Croatian hopes to be excused from Inter Milan's
tour to China as he moves to complete a move to United that could rise
to £44 million. The signing won't impact United's push for a defensive
midfielder with Nemanja Matic still a target.
Our view: Perisic wants a move to United but Inter are playing hard ball with the transfer. Only time will tell and soon he will become a United player.
The Mail reports that despite
an enquiry for Sergio Aguero, which was rebuffed, Chelsea's primary
striking target remains Alvaro Morata. Chelsea have signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko but still need a forward and the report says that Morata is the first-choice ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Andrea Belotti. However free-spending AC Milan are in the same boat and will provide competition for the Spaniard.
Our view: Right now Morata is hot in demand. AC Milan have made him their top target so are Chelsea so it's gonna be a two way battle between Chelsea and AC Milan. But Moorata might favor a move to England so Chelsea are the favorite for his signature here but they still have a Madrid to agree fees with.
Wilshere set for Palace loan
The Sun reports that Jack Wilshere could be about to sign a new contract with Arsenal and then go out on loan to Crystal Palace for the season. Wilshere will be sold if he does not sign the deal with Arsenal keen to avoid losing the midfielder on a free.
Our view: Okay, Arsenal don't want to lose Wilshere for nothing and definitely not now even if they know he has no place in the Gunners first team so the best option for them is to send him out on another loan. If Wilshere wants to settle down quickly, a permanent move is what he needs and not another loan.
Arsenal told to pay record fee for Lemar
We end with The Mirror who report that if Arsenal want
to sign Thomas Lemar they are going to have to break their transfer
record for the second time this window with Monaco demanding £80 million for the forward. Arsenal are confident of the deal being done but will have to sell with David Ospina, Wojciech Szczesny, Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers, Lucas Perez and Olivier Giroud all uncertain of their future.
Our view: Monaco have lost too many players this summer and are reluctant to let another leave again. But demanding a record transfer fees for Lemar who is a hugely
talented player will not be a bad idea. So if Arsenal needs him, pay Monaco's asking price and get your man.
