Cyprus Talks: Negotiations may continue after Greek Cyprus elections: Talat
A solution outside UN parameters was not possible as such solutions
would be against Turkish Cypriot interests, said former Turkish Cypriot
President Mehmet Ali Talat.
Talat who made the remarks during an interview with Turkish Cypriot daily Yeni Bakis on Friday said the Cyprus negotiations would resume after the Greek Cypriot presidential elections:
Speaking on the offshore gas drilling by the Greek Cypriot administration, Talat said that “this constituted a very dangerous initiative that usurped the Turkish Cypriots’ rights and would cause reactions from both Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots”.
He also expressed his opinion that gas drilling should have started following a solution to the Cyprus problem.

I have said it in the past; negotiating during an election period would be hard”, he stated.
