Cyprus Talks: Cyprus have reached a crossroad - Akinci

Turkish Cypriot president, Mustafa Akıncı has said that Cyprus has reached a crossroad and despite what is happening around the world, it is possible to establish a joint federal state in Cyprus, through the spirit of cooperation.


Akinci made the remarks when he was delivering a speech at the 20th Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul on Friday. Akinci noted that reaching a solution on the negotiations that have been ongoing for 50 years is possible if both sides are equally committed to finding a solution

“If the road towards a solution is not chosen then it must be foreseen that a new road will be taken”.

He added that a Cyprus solution will be a win-win formula for all.

“We as the Turkish Cypriot side, are working with belief that we will establish a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation based on political equality,” said the President.
