Turkish lira hits record new low against the dollar
The Turkish lira has hit a record new low against the
U.S. dollar as at of Monday January 9th 2017, battered as a result of
higher-than-expected inflation and security worries.
The Lira fell to a historic low of 3.6900 against the US dollar in early
trading on Monday after starting the day at 3.6510, down
1.4%, following sharp rises in food and drink prices that pushed Turkish
inflation to 1.64% in December for an annualised 8.53%.
