Record number of US voters cast early votes
According to early report, a record number of US voters have
voted ahead of Election Day, driven by increasing turnout from Latino
voters Which could be good news for Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.
According to records by Associated Press data, at least 46.27 million people have cast their ballots in early voting - either by mail or at polling stations with record levels reported in 28 states and the District of Columbia as millions of more ballots are still coming in.
According to AP, it estimated that early votes could top 50 million which comes to almost 40 per cent of all ballots in a presidential election expected to have higher turnout overall due to intense public interest compared to four years ago, when there were 46.22 million early votes, or 35 per cent.
"Interest in early voting has been unprecedented in many states," said Michael McDonald, a University of Florida professor and expert on voter turnout .Source: AP
