Greek Cyprus condemns Turkey for using Cypriot airspace
The Greek Cypriot side of the divided island of Cyprus has accused Turkey of violating the Cyprus airspace and
continuing to use “unauthorised” Ercan airport in the north.
The permanent representative to the United Nations UN, Nicos Emiliou, in a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said;
Turkey has been flying civilian and military aircraft over the island under a bi-lateral agreement with the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of North Cyprus TRNC.
Following the receive of the letter, the UN condemned Turkey's use of Ercan airport in the north.
According to the south, Ercan is unapproved as a landing strip and is not a legal port of entry.
