Andy Carroll threatened at gunpoint on way home from training
West Ham and England striker Andy Carroll, 27 was allegedly threatened at gunpoint on his way home from training by two men on motorbikes on Wednesday.
According to report, Carroll then immediately sped off in panic as the two men pursue him on their bikes, but managed to lose them before returning to West Ham's Rush Green training ground where the police were called.
Police are currently investigating the incident that left the striker 'shaken.' The club later released a brief statement concerning the incident.
"West Ham United can confirm an incident targeting one of our players on Wednesday 2 November. The matter is now being handled by the police," it read.A statement from MET police added;
“‘The two men threatened the driver. The motorcyclists attempted to block the car as the driver sought to get away. The suspects rode off prior to the arrival of police. ’There has been no arrest at this stage.”A statement by Scotland Yard added confirmed that "a man in his 20s" had been the intended victim of the incident and that no arrests had yet been made.
The clubs confirmed that plans to beef up security around the striker was already underway.
