Activists want Hillary Clinton to challenge presidential election results in three swing states

A group of activists including computer scientists and election lawyers are urging Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton to challenge the election results and call for a recount in three swing states, won by US president-elect Donald Trump saying they have evidence that the results in three key battleground states were compromised, the New York Magazine reported on Tuesday.

According to the Magazine, the group, including Boston voting-rights lawyer John Bonifaz and J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Centre for Computer Security and Society, believe they have found evidence that the electronic voting systems in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania produced suspicious results indicating that they could have been manipulated or hacked.

According to report, the group reportedly held a conference call with Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta and campaign general counsel Marc Elias last Thursday to discuss their findings, which they have not made public.

According to the group, Clinton received 7 percent fewer votes in counties in Wisconsin, that relied on electronic-voting machines compared with counties that used optical scanners and paper ballots.

Based on this statistical analysis, Clinton could have reportedly been denied as many as 30,000 votes which could have cost her the state, report the publication. She lost Wisconsin by about 27,000 votes.

A Clinton win in all three states would have given her enough Electoral College votes to claim the presidency, but rival Trump won Wisconsin and Pennsylvania by the smallest margins of all the states that he won.

Though the result in Michigan hasn’t been certified, but Trump is likely to win the state.

US president-elect, Donald Trump currently has 290 electoral votes against Clinton's 232.

The group is saying that the voting pattern should be looked into, though it has not found proof of hacking.

According to the Magazine, the deadline to file for a recount in Wisconsin is Friday; Pennsylvania is Monday next week; and Michigan is Wednesday next week.
