'You're going to jail!' Piers Morgan rips £5 notes on TV sending Twitter into meltdown

UK: TV personality, Piers Morgan broke the law live on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning when he decided to test the durability of the Bank of England's new plastic £5 notes, while he was presenting the show with co-host Susanna Reid.

Morgan began his weird experiment by putting the money for a spin in a washing machine and afterwards the bank note remained in perfect condition.

He then attempted to tear the note with his hands before using his teeth to rip it apart.
Pleased with his antics, he went further and tore another £5 note with his teeth in celebration, which left Susanna Reid shocked.
"I cannot believe you just did," Susanna said.
"I'm not sure if that's even legal. We'll have to look into it."
Piers' antics immediately sent Twitter into meltdown as stunned viewers took to Twitter to vent their anger.
One user wrote:
"@piersmorgan You're going to jail for destroying money Piers."
Another commented:
"Given the type of audience that watches GMB may not have the luxury to rip up money, I think you should rethink doing it @piersmorgan."
Another user wrote moments later:
"@GMB @piersmorgan It's also against the law to deliberately destroy banknotes without the proper authority."
Another user tweeted:
"@piersmorgan on @GMB is awful morning TV. Tearing £5 notes with his teeth. Stick to #lifestory. Too early to watch you being so annoying."
According to the Bank of England, it is against the UK Currency and Banknotes act 1928 to deface bank notes. But the decision whether to prosecute or not is up to the police and courts.
According to Susanna, Piers did not break the Bank law by ripping the note in two as part of his durability test.
Piers closest friend/enemy Lord Alan Sugar has jokingly Tweeted, promising to support him behind bars paraventure he was prosecuted by the police.

"I will come and visit you @piersmorgan @GMB" he wrote.
The new plastic £5 notes cost the Bank of England £70million to develop, and 7p to print each.
