Moment Syrian rebel blows self and comrades up by using mobile phone bomb detonator to take selfie

Syria: A video footage has emerged online showing the horrific moment a Syrian rebel appears to accidentally blow himself and his colleagues up by using a mobile phone connected to a bomb to take a selfie.


The 30-second footage appear to show a group of eight men, believed to be members of the Free Syrian Army, gathered around a camera filming a propaganda video as they are seen sitting in front of a rebel flag and singing into a microphone.


The footage which has not been verified, shows one of the rebel freedom fighters holding a mobile phone up in front of his face as he attempts to take a selfie of the group.

Just as he click the button, it triggers an explosion which covered the room with flames and smoke.

Horrified rebels can be heard shouting 'Allahu Akbar' ('God is great) as the dust clears out with the camera seen pointing towards the ceiling.

Report did not indicate if anyone was killed or wounded in the explosion.

The Free Syrian Army backed by the coalition of western nations including the US, UK and France are battling the Russian Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad and Islamic State (ISIS).
