Girl shoots classmate in Texas high school before killing herself

US: A female shooter has wounded a classmate before turning the gun on herself at a high school in west Texas, on Thursday morning  according to local reports.

A source at Alpine High School Board told El Paso Proud that the gun-woman was found dead in the school bathroom.

In a report by the Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson, who confirmed that a female student was taken to hospital with a gun shot wound, said a police officer responding to the scene of the incident was shot in what appears to have been an accident.

The identities of the shooter and victims are yet to be released at the time of the report.

A lieutenant with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Elizabeth Carter, said someone brought a gun into the school campus on Thursday morning.

Spokeswoman for Big Bend Regional Medical Centre in Alpine, Ruth Hucke, said hospital personnel were treating the three “victims”.

The School with around 280 students, was evacuated as other schools in the area were also placed on lockdown.
