German police detain teenager with suspected ISIS ties

Germany: Police has detained a 16-year-old Syrian boy in the German city of Cologne on Wednesday and is alleged to have ties to Islamic State militants, said police and prosecutors.
The teenage asylum seeker who is living in a refugee accommodation was taken into custody earlier on Wednesday in the Porz district of Cologne.

Officials said during a press conference, that an assessment of the boy's mobile phone showed he had been in contact with an Islamic State operative and that he had been radicalized within a short period of time.

Germany was hit by two separate terrorist attacks carried out by asylum seekers in the space of one week in July, an attack the Islamic State group took responsibility for and since then the country has been on high alert.
