Football Paper Round: Mkhitaryan wants No. 10 role and Wenger backs Ospina to keep his place
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is frustrated at not being given an opportunity at No. 10 by Jose Mourinho at Manchester United
- reports the Sun. United's summer signing hoped to be used in a
central creative role when he moved to Old Trafford, but Mourinho has
told the player that his selection on the wing has been down to the
superior performances of his rivals for that central spot.
David Ospina will 'keep his place'
Arsenal
manage Arsene Wenger has hinted that David Ospina will remain the
first-choice goalkeeper for Champions League games this season -
according to the Telegraph. Ospina was surprisingly given the nod ahead
of Petr Cech for Arsenal's European opener against Paris Saint-Germain
on Tuesday night, but made a number of excellent saves in the second
half to keep his side in the game. Ospina was also used in European
matches at the start of last season, only to be dropped after some
high-profile errors. But Wenger believes that he will have to rotate his
top two goalkeepers if he is to keep both happy this season.
Rodgers: Missed penalty was 'turning point'
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers believes a missed penalty with
the score at 1-0 proved the 'turning point' in his side's 7-0 loss at
Barcelona - reports the Mirror. Celtic were blown away by a brilliant
Barcelona display at Camp Nou, but Rodgers insists that a missed Moussa
Dembele penalty when his side were just a goal behind was a decisive
moment, as an equaliser could have changed the momentum of the match.
