Afghan-born ‘terrorrist cell’ suspect arrested over New York and New Jersey bombings

US: FBI agents have arrested a man identified as Ahmad Khan Rahami allegedly responsible for the Manhattan pressure cooker bomber on Saturday after a dramatic shoot-out with police in which two cops were shot by the extremist.

Ahmad Khan Rahami an Afghan-born militant is believed to have been behind the series of bomb attacks which have rocked New York and New Jersey at the weekend after CCTV footage showed him planting two devices on Saturday, one of which wounded 29 people in the Chelsea district of NY.
Five members of Rahami’s family were arrested on their way to JFK Airport on Sunday.

According to a homeland security official, the explosive devices in New York and New Jersey are connected after another bomb exploded near a train station in the city of Elizabeth, NJ.

New York’s governor Andrew Cuomo have now said the attacks “may be foreign related.”

According to reports, terror suspect Rahami reportedly left his mobile phone at the scene of the New York pressure cooker bomb explosion.

Reports say Rahami and his father Mohammad Sr, 53, reportedly sued New Jersey police in 2011 for discriminating against them because of their religion.

The family who own a chicken restaurant, called First American, previously claim it was repeatedly shut down by cops.

The family also alleged that local residents racially abuse his relatives saying: “Muslims don’t belong here.”
