US: 37-year-old US Basket ball legend Kobe Bryant who retired from basketball in April 2016 after spending his whole playing career at Los Angeles Lakers was on Wednesday honored with his own day 'Kobe Bryant day' by the Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti who presented him with a plaque. The date 28/08 was a combination of the two jerseys Bryant wore during his playing career with the Los Angeles Lakers, the number ''8'' and ''24''.

The NBA legend took to his Twitter handle to share the excitement with the message; ''It was MY honor to play here for 20 years; Much respect, LA''

Bryant who will be 38 on Monday August 29 was wished a happy birthday by a crowd of politicians after he was presented with a plaque.
