Chelsea 'must break record' to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton

Chelsea 'must break record to re-sign Lukaku'
The Mirror reckons so, reporting that the Merseysiders have insisted Lukaku will be starting the new season at Goodison Park unless their £75-million valuation is met. That would shatter the British transfer record, set by Manchester United when they signed Angel Di Maria for £59.7m from Real Madrid. Of course, that record might not even be in place if Man United sign Paul Pogba first...

Chelsea reportedly had a £57m offer for Belgium international Lukaku turned down over the weekend.

Tigers hunt City striker Bony
Hull may not have a manager at the moment -- but that trifling fact is not going to stop them from looking to strengthen their ranks as another return to the Premier League draws closer to kickoff.
The Tigers, sans a boss after Steve Bruce's resignation, know they need to add more of a goal-scoring edge, and the man they hope can do that is Manchester City misfit Wilfried Bony.
Pep Guardiola is willing to let former Swansea striker Bony leave the Etihad Stadium, with the Ivorian having scored just six Premier League goals since joining for £25 million, the Sun reports.Hull are not the only club interested in signing him; the Swans are keen on a reunion with one of their biggest recent stars and could yet have the final say.
Whoever ends up bringing Bony in will have to do so on a permanent basis because City, the Sun says, are not prepared to let him go on loan.

Hammers hope to nail down Ayew move
If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. Last summer, West Ham were keen to sign Andre Ayew, only for the striker to join Swansea instead.
Now, the Hammers are having another go and have made a £20m bid for the Ghana international, the Star reports.
The Swans are short of firepower after Bafetimbi Gomis joined Marseille on a season-long loan, but manager Francesco Guidolin has so far refused to make any comment on the future (or otherwise) of Ayew at the club.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is after extra options up front as his players prepare to begin their new Olympic Stadium era and Ayew could be the answer.
Meanwhile, Hammers striker Diafra Sakho is uncertain about the merits of moving to West Bromwich Albion despite the two clubs having agreed a £15m deal, according to the Mail.
Sakho, who submitted a transfer request earlier in the summer, did not travel with the squad on the pre-season tour of Austria, but is reportedly uncertain as to whether The Hawthorns would be the right next step for him.

Palace life suits Zaha fine - Millen
Crystal Palace assistant manager Keith Millen has brushed aside reports that Wilfried Zaha could be on his way, with the Mirror saying he is adamant the winger is "more than happy" with life at Selhurst Park.
Zaha had been linked with a move to Watford after reports claimed an offer of new terms by Palace failed to materialise.
But Millen said: "We brought him back from Manchester United, so we certainly don't want to lose him. He is more than happy here."

Other News
- It wasn't that long ago that Liverpool midfielder Luis Alberto seemed to be heading back to Europa League winners Sevilla.
But that move has since fallen through. Alberto could now be heading to Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Alberto, 23, would cost £6m. Midlands duo Wolves and Aston Villa are also said to be keen to sign the player.

- Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers could be set to make a move for Manchester United defender Paddy McNair, who has been told by Jose Mourinho that he can leave Old Trafford on loan.
The Sun quotes Rodgers, who saw his side beaten 3-1 by Barcelona in a friendly in Dublin, as saying he "could not deny or say yes or no" to reports that he was keen to sign McNair.
The ex-Liverpool boss claims "there have been so many players who have been thrown our way or linked with Celtic" that he "can't comment on everyone."
