Russia and US have reached an agreement to improve military co-ordination in Syria
Syria: Russia and The United States of America has reached an agreement to boost co-ordination between their
military operations in Syria, where they are both launching air strikes and backing opposite sides.
Russia military intervention is know to back President Bashar al-Assad, and the US backing rebel groups in an attack targeted on Islamic State. According to Russian defence ministry, it said military officials from both countries had agreed on the need to improve co-ordination during a video conference.
Recently, the US accused Russian over air strikes it carried out against US-backed Syrian opposition forces last week, claiming Russia failed to regards its warnings.
In a response to the accusations, Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov denied the allegation, saying the Russian strikes hit about 300km away from territory where the United States had claimed opposition forces were operating.
He added that Russia had informed the US-led coalition about the planned air strike.
"The Russian defence ministry for the past few months has been proposing to its American colleagues to draw a unified map, which would contain information about the location of the forces which were active in Syria. However, no material progress has been made on this issue," Konashenkov said.
