Lion pounces at two year old boy in zoo after he turns his back

Japan: A lion tried to pounced at a two year old child in Japan during a staring contest with at a zoo but only to be restricted by the glass separating it from the outside world. See video after the cut..

The lion banged its head against the glass enclosure after diving at the the child just two seconds after the child turned his back.
The lion which was locked in a staring contest with the child, sneaked down from a rock into a central position directly opposite the child.
When the child, wearing a bright yellow jacket, looked away the lion took the opportunity to leap toward the child before banging  full-force into the glass enclosure.

Zoo officials have insisted the dive was not an act of violence, but say the lion usually pounces at children in an attempt to play with them.
This is coming just days after Harambe the gorilla was shot dead by zoo officials after a child fell into his enclosure.
