Niger Delta Avengers blow up NNPC pipeline in Warri, Nigeria

Just 24 hours after the Niger Delta Avengers blew up Chevron's Escravos pipeline, the militants have on Thursday night blown up a gas and crude pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) near Warri.
The militants via its Twitter feed on Friday said it blew up the NNPC gas and crude pipeline
“At 11:45pm on Thursday @NDAvengers blew up other #NNPC Gas and Crude trunkline close to Warri,” the group said on its Twitter account, a medium it has adopted to communicate its activities in recent times.
The group taunted the Nigerian government that their sabotage was carried out despite the presence of Nigerian soldiers.
The attack on Chevron’s valve platform, an offshore oil facility located near Escravos in Abiteye, Warri South West Local Council of Delta State, has forced the company to shut in crude oil output from some fields in the western Niger Delta and critical gas supply to thermal power stations in the country.

The Avengers had given all oil companies in the region an ultimatum till the end of the May to stop operations or face more attacks.

The NNPC is yet to confirm this development.
