Delivery rider ‘attacked and robbed’ in Cyprus

A food delivery rider was attacked and robbed while returning from a delivery in Limassol, south Cyprus, the police said on Sunday.

According to the complaint, the 24-year-old rider had been called to deliver an order at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday. After completing the delivery and setting off to return to his base, he was confronted by several individuals with their faces covered, some carrying wooden sticks, and one reportedly holding a knife.

The victim said one of the attackers pushed him off his motorcycle, causing him to fall. He also received a blow to the hand but did not sustain injuries. Fearing for his safety, he abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot. A passer-by noticed the incident and contacted the police.

Officers who arrived at the scene found the rider and his motorcycle, which had suffered material damage. Checks revealed that the motorcycle’s keys and the rider’s mobile phone had been stolen. The assailants fled before police reached the area.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
