Libyan student arrested for drug 6 months after committing crime

A Libyan national who had been on the TRNC narcotics police wanted list for importing drug into the country through the Ercan Airport has been arrested.

The accused identified only as M.S.A.A is the younger brother of B.S.S.A, 19, a university student in the country who was arrested in March for smuggling 136 drug pills brought into the country through the Ercan Airport.

According to police report, a Libyan student on March 27, 2018 at about 11:00am came into the country through the Ercan Airport with drugs placed inside a suitcase.

Police said 136 pieces of MDMA type of drug pills concealed in a box of chocolate were recovered from him following a search.

Police said more drugs were also found at the suspect's residence after another search was made.

His younger brother who police believed was connected to the incident disappeared at the time after police launched a search for him.

He was arrested and taken to a Lefkosa court on Monday on charges of illegal import and export of unlawful drugs.
